Bear’s Weikert Weekend Cut Short Due To Motor Problems
Story By: ANTHONY CORINI / BEAR RACING – PORT ROYAL, PA – The Bob Weikert Memorial is one of the most anticipated local weekends of the year in Central Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, Tyler Bear’s weekend lasted two laps before his lone engine expired. “It’s a real bummer. We were starting to really get going up there and we’re looking forward to competing on a big stage,” Bear said after the motor let go on Saturday. Bear was coming off a career weekend where he picked up his first career top five the last time Port Royal raced.
“We will be back at Port Royal hopefully in two weeks. We are just disappointed we weren’t able to support the Weikert Family and Port Royal this weekend. They do a tremendous job for our sport,” Bear said.
Bear was planning on heading out to Knoxville to compete with the World of Outlaws in the VanderEcken Motorsports entry, but unfortunately will not be able to do so anymore. Bear hopes to compete at Knoxville in late June. Bear finished an impressive 14th in his first ever look at the Knoxville Raceway.
Because of how tight-budgeted Bear is, he wanted to send extra appreciation to his sponsors: VFW Post 34, VanderEcken Motorsports, Bossinger’s Firewood and Lumber, Perry Auto Collision, Sections Salon, Justin Snyder Racing, Fultz Excavating and Beerhill Gang. Bear continually refers to these partners as family rather than sponsors and is thankful for each and every one of them that allow him to be competitive every time he hits the track.
