Woodhull Welcomes Patriot Sprints This Saturday
Story By: STEVEN OVENS / WOODHULL RACEWAY – WOODHULL, NY – Saturday night May 13 will see Mike Emhof’s A-Verdi Storage Containers Patriot Sprint Tour return to the third-mile bullring at Woodhull Raceway.
When the 360 sprint cars take to “New York’s Toughest Bullring” it is a sight of epic proportions as the skill of the drivers and the raw horsepower of the methanol breathing 360 cubic inch engines collide.
Last season saw Jared Zimbardi finally nail down his first ever victory on the ‘High Banks’ after many years of trying on the PST Tour. Popular Pennsylvania pilot George Suprick also claimed his first Woodhull win in a 360 sprint car back in July of 2016.
This Saturday might see one of the most competitive fields of drivers as it was announced this week that Scott Kreutter will fill in for Parker Evans in the No. 61 machine. Joe Trenca will wheel the Mucci Motorsports No. 98, as he follows the Patriot American Tour in 2017. Both of the Hebings, Chuck and Kelly, will have 360 powerplants underneath the hood and will be in competition.
It will be an interesting week for Woodhull Fantasy League competitors as Patriot Sprint Tour drivers ARE eligible to be a “Write In” driver in Group C. Will a Patriot driver find their way into fantasy lineups? Or will teams choose to go with the weekly Woodhull regulars?
Williams Construction & Sprayfoam as well as Kickin’ Country 105.3FM out of Hornell will team up to present the night’s racing action at Woodhull Raceway.
Also on the racing card for the night will be the Insinger Performance 370 Modifieds, NAPA Crate Sportsman, SWL Awards Crate Late Models, Joe Willcox Performance Automatics Street Stocks, Daughtery’s Auto Sales & Service Mini Stocks and Woodhull Auto Supply Front Wheel Drives.
With the sprint cars in attendance Saturday, the Hobby Stocks and Woodhull Warriors will have the night off. They will return to action Saturday May 20.
Fans can find their way into the grandstands Saturday at 4:30 for only $18 for adults 13 and up. Seniors and ages 8-12 will be $10. Children 7 and under are always free at Woodhull Raceway. Pit passes have been set at $35.
Our weekly Early Bird Special runs from 4:30-5:30 and offers $1 off general admission. Woodhull Raceway offers plenty of space for free camping on site. The green flag for the first set of heat races will be dropped by Scott Lyon at 6:30.
