“Troyer Bob” Honored At RoC Asphalt Event At Spener Speedway

Story By: RACE OF CHAMPIONS – WILLIAMSON, NY – The Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series fueled by Sunoco will make its first of two stops this Friday, June 2 at Spencer Speedway just east of Rochester, N.Y., and honor one of the most passionate individuals to ever support asphalt modified racing.

Bob Mueller of Rochester, N.Y., will retire his position at Troyer Race Cars and Parts this season. “Troyer Bob” has long been a staunch supporter of the division, in addition to being a championship crew chief and team member dating back to his days with the Treichler’s, when he first began chasing his dream of Modified racing. Troyer Race Cars and Parts will be at the event to honor their long time employee.

“Bob has done a great deal for Troyer and we are very proud of all that he has accomplished,” stated Bill Colton, owner of Troyer Race Cars. “We hope this is a great night for him, at a place he’s been attending for so many years. His passions are asphalt modified racing and playing golf, which is how we came up with the name of the race to honor him as well as have a bit of a golf twist to engage both things he enjoys the most.”

The Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series heads to Spencer with Andy Jankowiak of Tonawanda, N.Y., currently leading the championship standings. Defending series champion, Patrick Emerling of Orchard Park, N.Y., is second in the standings with the most recent race winner, Bryan Sherwood of Binghamton, N.Y., in third place in the championship chase.

Mike Leaty of Williamson, N.Y., is the defending event champion. Leaty had to survive a series of late race challenges to earn the victory last season with an exciting finish.
