Talented Field Assembling For Brett Hearn’s Big Show 9
Story By: ROB HAZER / BH PROMOTIONS – SUSSEX, NJ – When June 27th in Malta, New York rolls around there will be talent by the trailer load rolling into the hallowed grounds of Albany Saratoga Speedway. The sound of Big Block engines, smell of racing fuel, and voices from hall-of-fame caliber drivers await fans, officials, and friends when Brett Hearn’s Big Show 9 brings together arguably the biggest event of the year at the great race place.
When we talk talent at the Big Show it’s made up of the most diverse group of skilled wheelmen providing dramatic action packed dirt track racing. For example just for starters hall-of-fame drivers Brett Hearn himself and fellow competitor Kenny Tremont Jr. call Albany Saratoga home on Friday nights. Hearn is approaching 900 career wins on his resume, while Tremont is considered ‘King’ of the valley and multi-time champion at the 3/8-mile great race place.
While the Hearn-Tremont fans debate their drivers spot in the hall-of-fame, two of this generations young stars have already made their argument for legendary dirt modified status. Matt Sheppard has dominated the Super DIRTcar Series for the past several seasons including multiple championships on the highest stage of dirt modified racing. Chasing him is another championship driver with multiple Super Dirt Week wins on his resume. Stewart Friesen took modified racing by storm and is the defending Brett Hearn Big Show champion.
Hall-of-fame drivers and potent young guns are just the beginning, as the great race place boasts some of the toughest weekend warriors anywhere in the Northeast. Marc Johnson elevated himself from underdog to defending champion after claiming the track title in 2016. Matt DeLorenzo has won big races, championships, and the hearts of a rather large fan base. Ronnie Johnson has blazed his own path after learning from his legendary father Jack, which resulted in multiple track titles and some rather big career wins.
To even further diversify the talent rich field gathering at Albany Saratoga Speedway June 27th for Brett Hearn’s Big Show IX, there are multiple drivers with a heavy right foot that are sure to entertain coming to town with the Super DIRTcar Big Block Modified Series. Billy Decker has a hall-of-fame resume to his credit, while ‘Lightning’ Larry Wight wows the crowd with his high side hustle, as the young gun is building himself a memorable career.
Jimmy Phelps is a perennial contender wherever he unloads the HBR Troyer and he’s one of only a pair of drivers to earn two Big Show championships. Add in a pistol, Mad Max, Batman, and rocket just to name a few and there’s no telling what kind of Fuller story will develop. If that isn’t enough there’s a Sweetners Plus sized T-Mac attack coming to the great race place.
Tim McCreadie is one of the most popular drivers to wheel Big Block dirt Modifieds. His legendary father put the McCreadie name on the map, as a barefooted wonder, but T-Mac has in his own right gone above and beyond the call of duty any 2nd generation driver incurs. He’s won in a Modified and has since moved to racing Dirt Late Models. The former World Of Outlaw Late Model champion is currently following the Lucas Oil Late Model tour full time, but his heart lies with Big Block racing.
McCreadie will make the trip to Albany Saratoga Speedway to compete in Brett Hearn’s Big Show IX driving a Sweetners Plus entry. T-Mac has several solid runs at the great race place, including a pair of popular victories back in 2012. Fans from all over the Northeast will not want to miss the must see show of the summer, as one of the most talented and diverse fields assembles to partake in Brett Hearn’s Big Show.
Many things will take place during the evening’s events to engage the fans including pre-race Autograph Sessions with Super DIRTcar Series drivers, Big Crate Show for Sportsman presented by Fox Racing Shocks, and an appearance by Ms. Motorsports Taylor Albert (2017) along with Midi Miller (Ms. Motorsports 1991).
More information will come over the next several weeks leading up to Brett Hearn’s Big Show IX at Albany Saratoga Speedway scheduled for June 27, 2017 as part of the Super DIRTcar Big Block Modified Series. Mark down the date and plan ahead to attend the premiere Modified race of the season in Malta, NY.
