Chad Pierce Still Searching For Whole Package At Lebanon Valley

Story By: BOBBY CHALMERS / CP RACING – EAGLE BRIDGE, NY – Even with an 18th place finish in Saturday’s 358-Modified event at Lebanon Valley, Chad Pierce knows he and his team have something to build on as they work towards getting their first win of the season.

Pierce and his H. Sausville Construction team struggled in their heat race to find speed, even thought their car’s set-up appeared to be heading in the right direction.

“The car is good but we’re just lacking a little bit in the horsepower department,” Pierce said. “In the heat, we started 4th and slid backwards. In the feature, we started 7th and did the same. The car handles good, but we just can’t get off the corners well enough. We’ll be busy this week trying to come up with some more speed.”

In the main event, Pierce made slight contact with the turn two wall at the one-quarter mark of the race, and with a field of cars that’s so tightly bunched up, that was it took to hurt his chances for a good run.

“I was trying too hard, got frustrated, and over drove the corner,” he said. “We’re on such a fine line every lap that you have to drive 100% all the time. However, you can overdrive sometimes and that’s what happened to me. With a lack of speed in our car, they were just eating me up down the chutes, so I was driving extra hard to make up for it.”

Even while struggling himself, Pierce was excited for his good friend, Olden Dwyer, who park in victory lane at the end of the night.

“Big congratulations to my little buddy Olden on his win,” he said. “He and his entire team work very hard on their program and it’s nice to see that hard work pay off with the checkered flag.”

As Pierce and his CP Racing Team search for more speed, they prepare for their next event. That will be this coming Saturday when Lebanon Valley holds their Mother’s Day Special on the high banks. Gates open at 5pm.
