Atomic Speedway, Ohio Sprint Car Series, Buckeye LM Dirt Week To Enforce Random Drug Testing

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / ATOMIC SPEEDWAY – CHILLICOTHE, OH – In an effort to increase safety standards amongst racers, Brad McCown, promoter of Atomic Speedway, Ohio Sprint Car Series and Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week, will now enforce random drug testing during mentioned events in 2017. Competitors chosen to be evaluated will be notified on the day of any given event. If the competitor is proven to be impaired, immediate action will be taken at the promoter’s discretion, or Series officials’ discretion.

“Maintaining safety is the bottom line,” Brad McCown explained. “We not only want to keep all of our competitors safe, but we also want to assure the safety of our track crew and track officials, as well as the safety of those sitting in the stands. Driving impaired will not be tolerated. With that said, I am confident this new rule will not deter any of the competitors associated with Atomic Speedway, OSCS and Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week, as I am sure all abide by such standards, anyhow.”

Atomic Speedway will continue its 2017 season with Mod Mayhem and Ohio Sprint Car Series presented by Ohio Heating competition on Saturday evening, May 20. The OSCS visit to the Chillicothe area venue will be the last until June 3, officially closing out the month of May with a trip to Fremont Speedway in Fremont, Ohio, on Saturday, May 27.

Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week presented by Octane Race Products will activate on Thursday, July 20, at the Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg, Ohio.
