Summer Slam Set To Rock Sunday At Five Mile Point
Story By: ANDREW HARPELL / FIVE MILE POINT SPEEDWAY – KIRKWOOD, NY – The 67th Modified season opener is here at Five Mile Point Speedway today. Racing today begins at 5 p.m. for the first Modified Sunday Summer Slam event. Kids 12 years old and younger will be admitted FREE and there will be two huge Easter Baskets given away to two lucky youngsters.
The racing card will be highlighted by the return of the mighty Modifieds. The Modifieds will be doing battle in a 30 lap Sunday Summer Slam event paying $2,000 to the race winner. There are bonus incentives posted by Shakelton NAPA and Tonarolo’s Restaurant that could see the winner earning nearly $3,000 for the victory today.
Joining the Modifieds will be round 1 of the Fight Night Street Stock Series, FWD Four Cylinders and the Sunday Summer Slam race 1 for the Xcel 600 Modifieds.
The Sunday Summer Slam program seems appropriate today as temperatures are expected to reach the mid 60’s. Pit gates open at 2 p.m. today with grandstand gates opening at 3 p.m. Practice is at 4 p.m. and racing is set for 5 p.m. today at Five Mile Point Speedway.
