Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / BRENT MARKS RACING – KILGORE, TX – With Mother Nature washing away all potential for a Gator Motorplex start on Saturday evening, March 4, the “Myerstown Missile” Brent Marks will venture further down the highway and leave Texas with one main event start during World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series competition, resulting in a 19th place finish on Friday evening, March 3, at the LoneStar Speedway in Kilgore, Texas.

It was Marks’ first-ever appearance at the east Texas venue, qualifying 22nd out of 28 World of Outlaws entries, eventually finishing eighth during heat race competition. Despite not qualifying for the 35-lap main event through the heat race, the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series Rookie of the Year contender would persevere and rally from outside of a transfer spot to finish third during the Last Chance Showdown. Marks lined up 21st on the feature grid, ultimately climbing two spots to finish 19th.

“We weren’t too proud of that performance, but we’ll put that behind us and move forward,” Brent Marks explained. “My team and I have learned a lot during the last few weeks, but I think we still have a few things to pick up. Unfortunately, being off by a little bit will ruin your entire night, especially with the group that we race with. Like I said, we’ll put this all behind us and travel further west with a positive attitude. We’re pretty psyched to get to Vegas. No better place to rebound after a tough finish.”

Brent Marks will continue his rookie campaign with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series on Thursday and Friday, March 9-10, with two, full nights of competition at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada. The FVP Outlaw Showdown will headline action at the state-of-the-art facility; the first and only Nevada appearance of the 2017 season for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.

Marks, pilot of the Brent Marks Racing / M&M Painting & Construction / BAPS Auto Paint & Supply / No. 19, will enter the Las Vegas doubleheader currently 13th in the World of Outlaws championship standings, earning one top-ten finish in four starts.

“I can’t thank everyone enough for their support this season,” Brent Marks said. “My crew works hard each and every night. I think we have the potential to make a lot of speed this season. We plan to outdo Texas with two, great nights in Las Vegas.”

The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series program at the Gator Motorplex in Willis, Texas, has been rescheduled and will be contested on Thursday evening, April 13, before the Texas Outlaw Nationals at Devil’s Bowl Speedway.
