Column By: MATTHEW WIERNASZ / RPW – PALMER, MA – Adam Norton will make a return to the Sunoco Modified this weekend at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park full time and maybe thinking about an EXIT Realty MTS race at Monadnock if the schedule works out but the main focus will be Thompson heading into 2017.

Norton is very happy with seven races this year on Thompson schedule. Norton has raced his whole life but now coming down now that he is older and with things changing in his life. Norton’s wife Anne gave birth to a baby boy name Kasey last June. Life is very busy for Norton and the seven dates do work for him.

For the 2016 season, there were more ups than downs for Norton. He started out the year pretty strong with the test day and had a decent showing at the Icebreaker. They went into the summer and had decent runs and then heading into the sixth or seventh race. Norton blew up the motor. Norton would finish eighth in the point standings in the Sunoco Modified division.

Webster First is a Federal Credit Union out of Spencer, MA came back to sponsor Norton for the 2017 season The branch Norton deals with is in Spencer but Webster First is based all over Massachusetts. If it wasn’t for sponsors, Norton feels he would not be racing this year.

Norton is enjoying life being a dad and watching Kasey change everyday. Norton will come home and he is doing something different. He will stay at Anne’s parents house during the day with her dad being retired and her mom working from home. The mother in law will send Norton videos of whats going on while he is working. Norton will see if his son wants to go racing in a few years and go down that route.

The Sunoco Modified division will have some tough competition. Ted Christopher will make a return to the division and if he wins two races, TC will have a 100 wins. Other drivers will include Ryan Preece, Woody Pitkat, Rowan Pennink, Keith Rocco along with Ronnie Williams.

” At Thompson, half the field can win at least like six cars could win on a weekly basis.” Norton Said

Norton has not in a Sunoco Modified but has won at the 5/8 mile in an SK Light. Norton would love to get one before he is done racing.

Norton’s goals for 2017 are to win a race and be in the top 3 or 5 every week. The Icebreaker will kickoff this weekend at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park. The Sunoco Modifieds will qualify on Saturday with their 30 lap feature will be held on Sunday.
