Column By: RACE PRO WEEKLY STAFF – DAYTONA BEACH, FL – Right out of the box and Stewart Friesen is fast. The Sprakers, NY driver put his #52 Halmar International Chevrolet in the top 10 on the speed chart during Thursday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series practice at the Daytona International Speedway.

Friesen toured the 2.5 mile speedway at 47.933 seconds, a speed of 187.762 MPH, placing him eighth of the 42 trucks that made at least one lap.

Rain forced NASCAR to consolidate the originally-scheduled two practice sessions into one, with rookie Chase Briscoe posting the fastest lap during the nearly two-hour session. He was joined in the top five by Scott Lagasse, Jr., Cody Coughlin, Ben Rhodes and Timothy Peters. Defending Truck Series Champion Johnny Sauter was sixth, followed by John Hunter Nemechek, Friesen, Noah Gragson, and Christopher Bell.
