URC Sprints Join Modifieds, Open Sportsman & Roadrunners This Friday At Big Diamond

Story By: BIG DIAMOND SPEEDWAY – MINERSVILLE, PA – The mighty winged warriors of the United Racing Club Sprints return to the Big Diamond Speedway along with the Insinger Performance Modifieds, USS Achey Open Sportsman and the Red, White and Blue Autos Roadrunners this Friday night June 25th as part of S.A. Comunale night.

The URC Sprint cars are always a favorite of the fans at Big Diamond Speedway when they bring their high-flying brand of racing to the Schuylkill County dirt oval. This will be the second visit of the year for the URC sprints. On their last visit, veteran sprint car campaigner Mark Smith dominated the event. The club regulars will all be in attendance on Friday night to try and stop that from happening once again.

Last Friday night, it was the leading feature winner in Big Diamond history Craig Von Dohren standing in victory lane after recording his 99th career modified win in the Insigner Performance Modifieds. Von Dohren will be shooting for that milestone 100th victory this Friday night but to do that CVD must get through the likes of points leader Duane Howard, 2-time 2021 winner Billy Pauch Jr and a determined Jeff Strunk who was looking very fast last week until an issue developed that forced him to drop out of the race. The competition is as tough as it gets on Friday nights in the modifieds at Big Diamond and to get a win here definitely means it was well earned.

The USS Achey Open Sportsman will be back in action on Friday night with their brand of exciting action. Open Sportsman feature winner Brandon Edgar will bolt the sail panels back on the No. 57 after winning the Crate 602 feature last Friday night to look for his second win of the season. The last time the Open Sportsman raced it was Mike Burrows who dominated the race for his first win of the season. Edgar is the current points leader with a small lead over Mike Schneck.

The Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunner division was in action last week as well, but their feature was cut short after five laps when rain and lightning hit the speedway. The balance of that feature will be made up at a later date. This Friday night, they will be back in action with a full slate of heats and a feature. Andrew Fayash III and Alex Schoffstall lead the way with two victories each as their battle for Roadrunner supremacy continues.

Pit Gates will open on Friday night at 5:00 PM with the grandstand gates opening at 5:30 PM.

Pit passes are $30 for Big Diamond Speedway and URC members, non-member pit passes are $40.

Warmups get underway at 7:15 PM with racing starting at 7:45 PM.

General admission on Friday night will be $25, Senior admission is $23, Kids under 16 are free. Active military are admitted free with a valid ID.
