Erick Rudolph Fastest In Mods Friday At Ransomville Test; Kerwin, Isreal, Junkin & Susice Also Quick
Story By: STEVE PETTY / RANSOMVILLE SPEEDWAY – RANSOMVILLE, NY – VP Racing Fuels presented Test, Tune, and Time at the Ransomville Speedway Friday night. Drivers that attended the session had three rounds of practice before racing against the clocks and set the front row for the main events on Opening Night, Friday, May 7. Erick Rudolph and Scott Kerwin will receive a 55g drum of VP Race Fuels after claiming the pole positions in the Krown Undercoating Modifieds and Investors Service Sportsman respectively.
Third-generation driver Erick Rudolph from Ransomville, NY set overall quick time in the Krown Undercoating Modifieds. “The Firestarter” ripped around the “Big R” with a time of 17.411 seconds. 2019 Super DIRTcar Series Champion “Money Mat” Mat Williamson from St. Catharines, Ontario was second quick and will share the front row with Rudolph after running a 17.472 second lap.
Newfane, NY’s Scott Kerwin took the Dirt Rocket Racing #1 to P1 on the speed chart and set the fastest lap in the Investors Service Sportsman, clocking in with an 18.228-second lap. Noah Walker from North Tonawanda, NY will share the front row by placing an 18.238-second lap.
“Showtime” Jaren Israel and Anthony Guthrie will bring the KiPo Motors Street Stocks to the green flag on Opening Night. Israel from Wilson, NY ran a 20.403-second lap while Guthrie from Niagara Falls, NY ran a 20.661-second lap.
Sam Junkin from Alden, NY will lead the Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman to the green flag after placing an 18.687-second lap. Junkin will share the front row with Dylan Duhow. The Newfane, NY pilot ran a 18.713-second lap.
Cole Susice from Ransomville, NY, and Matt Hornquist from Eden, NY will be sharing the front row for the Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks. Susice will lead the field to the green flag after running a 21.907 second lap. Hornquist will start second after a 22.319-second lap effort.
Ransomville Speedway will be adding an additional practice session on Monday, May 3 with a rain date of Tuesday, May 4. All cars are welcome to participate in this practice session. Pit gates will open at 5 pm and cars will hit the track at 6:30 pm. Temperature checks will take place and masks must be worn as per NYS COVID-19 guidelines. Pit admission will be $20.
