Fonda Speedway Race Car Show At ViaPort Rotterdam Goes Off Well After Year Off
Story By: BRETT DEYO / FONDA SPEEDWAY – ROTTERDAM, NY – Returning after a one-year absence, the unofficial ‘kick-off’ to the Fonda Speedway season took place last weekend at the ViaPort Rotterdam.
The annual Fonda Speedway Race Car Show hosted approximately 35 participants from Friday through Sunday as the countdown continues to the 2021 season at the Track of Champions.
The management teams of the ViaPort Rotterdam and Fonda Speedway worked in tandem for a scaled-down version of the pre-season event with a 35-car maximum to allow for social distancing.
The car count represented a variety of divisions including the Sunoco Modifieds, Swagger Factory Apparel Crate 602 Sportsman, Algonkin Motel Pro Stocks, Montgomery County Office for Aging Inc. Limited Sportsman, Four Cylinder Cruisers and Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modified Racing Series.
Members of the Fonda Speedway management team attended throughout the weekend, distributing schedules, selling memberships, season passes and Track of Champions apparel.
Attention now turns to on-track action on the famed Fonda Speedway half-mile layout.
Open Practice is scheduled for Saturday, April 10. Gates will open at 1 p.m., with hot laps from 3-6 p.m. All divisions are welcome to practice. Pit admission is $25 for Fonda Speedway members and $30 for non-members. There is a rain/weather date of Sunday, April 11 for the Open Practice.
Fonda Speedway’s 2021 Season Opener, presented by Palmer’s Service Center, takes place on Saturday, April 17. Sunoco Modifieds, Swagger Factory Apparel Crate 602 Sportsman, Algonkin Motel Pro Stocks, Montgomery County Office for Aging Inc. Limited Sportsman and Four Cylinder Cruisers will be in action as championship battles get underway.
Gates will open at 3:30 p.m. for the April 17 event with hot laps at 5:30 p.m. and racing at 6:30 p.m.
Pit admission is $30 for Fonda members and $35 for non-members.
Grandstand admission is $11 for Adults, $9 for Seniors (ages 65 and above) and Kids 11 and under are FREE.
