Story By: MARTIN BÉLANGER / CORNWALL MOTOR SPEEDWAY – CORNWALL, ONT – The Cornwall Motor Speedway will present a fourth event in 2020 this coming Saturday as the Summer Sizzler will highlight the Modified, Sportsman, Lightning Sprints and Vintage.

Again a lot of interest from race teams in each category!

Stacked, depth, loaded are some of the thoughts that comes to mind when you look at the registered drivers in the Modifieds for the Summer Sizzler 50. More than 30 drivers coming from Eastern and Western Ontario along with a solid group from Quebec will make the field which will probably best the best assembled so far in 2020!

Mat Williamson is making a second visit this season, all the 2019 track champions for the Canadian tracks will be in the pits starting by Corey Wheeler (Cornwall), Ryan Arbuthnot (Brockville, Can-Am), Steve Bernier (Granby, Airborne), David Hebert (Drummond), Gary Lindberg (Merritville), along with Chris Raabe (Mohawk).

One great addition is ‘’Mr.Small Block’’ himself, Pete Bicknell making a visit to Cornwall, he is one of the best drivers to have driven a 358-Modified, a former track champion, Kyle Dingwall is also making a first start in 2020.

Feature winners in 2020 at the speedway, Dany Gagné and Mario Clair will try to repeat again. You can add Yan Bussiere, JF Corriveau, Joey Ladouceur, Brian McDonald, Mathieu Desjardins, Steve Bernard, Simon Perreault, Michael Parent, and the list goes on!

The Sportsman will share the spotlight as drivers will have a lot on the line with several sponsors such as TAS Racing teaming up to provide a potential bonus to drivers that choose to start last in the feature and win the event as there is $2,600 ready for the driver that would be able to get it done.

It came close on July 11 as Robert Delormier and Ryan Stabler came 5th and 6th respectively. A solid field of cars is expected that will include Gabriel Cyr, Justin Lalancette, Evan and William Racine, Jarrett Herbison, Jessica Power, Cedric Gauvreau, Steve Morris, and many others that will bring the group a full roster of 30 cars that will take part in the $600 to win 50-lap event.

The Lightning Sprint and Vintage will be on the card with 25-lap each, they have provided some great racing each time they were present this season.

For the first time this season, 100 spectators will be allowed under Phase 3 reopening guidelines in Ontario. The 100 spots were quickly sold, we are continuing our partnership with 360nitro.tv as the event will be broadcasted live and available to rent at $24.95 Canadian or 19.95 in USD.
