Story By: MARTIN BÉLANGER / CORNWALL MOTOR SPEEDWAY – CORNWALL, ONT – Cornwall Motor Speedway presented a third show called the Corona Crusher 50 as the Sportsman headlined the evening sponsored by Splash Well Drilling. 6 other classes were in action during this event.
Justin Lalancette led the field of 31 strong in the Sportsman Corona Crusher 50 as Johnathon Ferguson and William Racine were behind the leader. A lap 3 restart opened the door to Ferguson who got the lead as Racine moved to second. Racine used the inside lane and passed Ferguson for the lead on lap 11.
Restarts were key in the first 15 laps as Power was able to get by Racine for the lead. Both Power and Racine swapped the lead as Racine went too high on in turn 2 and lost several positions giving the top spot to Gabriel Cyr. The leaders were in heavy traffic as Ferguson had nowhere to go and landed on his roof and red flag was out on lap 32.
Cyr to the lead for another 8 laps when caution flew with 10 laps to go, on the restart, Brianna Ladouceur got a great jump and grabbed the led over Cyr with Evan Racine now running in third. Ladouceur led the final laps and won the Corona Crusher over Cyr and Racine.
CD Beauchamp continued his great success in the Pro-Stock by winning the 30-lap in dominant fashion over Bruno Richard and Marc Lalonde. It is the second win in a row for Beauchamp at the speedway in 2020.
The speedway hosted a rare Street Stock event as Adam Wells was the race winner running the low lane to his advantage with Wade Purchase finishing second and Jonathan Galipeau in third.
The 25-lap Mini-Stock was the last event of the evening as James Clarke and Alexis Charbonneau went into a heated battle, Clarke pulled away from the rest of the field and went to win a second feature in a row over Charbonneau and Yannik Potvin rounded out the top 3.
A good 20-lap Vintage feature with several lead changes at the end of the event as Josh Power was the feature winner.
Jeff May was the class of the field in the 20-lap event in front of Eric Desilets and Kevin Boucher.
Xavier Lauzon had the best car in the 25-lap Lightning Sprints, he led most of the event and won over Eric Mireault and Tommy Moreau.
