Steve Bernier Set To Join Weekly Championship Battle At Cornwall Speedway In 2020

Story By: CORNWALL MOTOR SPEEDWAY – CORNWALL, ONT – The Modified division at Cornwall Motor Speedway is adding a strong contender to the 2020 title fight as Steve Bernier has confirmed he’ll be a regular at the speedway next season.

The St-Hyacinthe, Quebec resident is coming off one of his best seasons of his career since joining the Modified ranks. He gathered an impressive 13 wins in 2019, which was the second most to a guy named Mat Williamson.

He was crowned track champion at Autodrome Granby and Airborne Speedway which were his two regular tracks in 2019.

Bernier is the driver with most wins coming out of the province of Quebec with 26 wins in the last three seasons.

The 2019 Fat Les Chip Stand Canadian Nationals Champion had some solid runs at Cornwall last season, capturing two wins in August. In eight total races, his worst finish was a ninth place. He collected a fourth place on three occasions and was sixth two other times.

Bernier was the only driver in the Modified ranks to collect two checkered flags last summer.

His addition to the class weekly will bring some depth to an already solid field that includes Corey Wheeler, Kyle Dingwall, Carey Terrance, Brian McDonald, Joey Ladouceur, Chris Raabe and JF Corriveau along with Shane Pecore and Brianna Ladouceur who are moving up in 2020.
