Danny Dietrich Rallies For Top-Five Finish At Lincoln Speedway; Upcoming Agenda TBD
Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / GARY KAUFFMAN RACING – GETTYSBURG, PA – It was another successful weekend in the Pigeon Hills for ‘Double-D’ Danny Dietrich, this time rallying five positions in 25 laps to finish fourth during main event action.
The outcome was a third consecutive top-five result for the nearby Gettysburg-native, kicking-off his Central Pennsylvania season with a victory during the speedway’s $4,000-to-win Icebreaker on February 22.
The former Lincoln Speedway track champion launched his afternoon visit on March 7 with a runner-up performance during his respective heat race.
Dietrich was well on his way to a top-five outcome at Port Royal Speedway on Sunday, March 8, when incidental contact with another competitor forced the driver of the Gary Kauffman Racing No. 48 to spin, ultimately sending Dietrich to the back of the field. The 2019 Central PA champion recovered to finish 14th.
The incident, which occurred in turn three during a battle for seventh and eighth, transpired with only six laps checked off the counter. Dietrich earned his way into the $5,000-to-win main event by way of heat race victory.
“The weekend didn’t end how we wanted, but it felt good to be back to Port Royal. The speed was there,” Danny Dietrich said, driver of the Gary Kauffman Racing/Weikert’s Livestock/Sandoe’s Fruit Market/Pace Performance/Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts/Drop Of Ink Tattoo/Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC/Self Made/No. 48 sprint car. “We’re not exactly sure of our plan for next Saturday, but we’ll figure something out pretty quick.”
Although Dietrich’s plan for Saturday, March 14, has yet to be determined, ‘Double-D’ intends on visiting Williams Grove Speedway for its season opener on Sunday afternoon, March 15.
