Super DIRTcar Series Set To Invade Plattsburgh Airborne Speedway Monday Night

Story By: MIKE WARREN / PLATTSBURGH AIRBORNE SPEEDWAY – PLATTSBURGH, NY – The Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds invade Plattsburgh Airborne Speedway on Canada Day, Monday, July 1 for the Border Battle 100 presented by Hartson Total Opening.

Some of the best DIRTcar drivers in the northeast are expected to make the trip to battle for the $10,000 top prize and automatic qualifier for Napa Auto Parts Super DIRT Week XLVIII.

Defending series champion, “Super” Matt Sheppard leads the big blocks into the weekend in his Hurlock Auto & Speed Supply number 9s.

Sheppard has one win on the Super DIRTcar Series this season, as do Stewart Friesen and Erick Rudolph. Some of the platinum drivers for the 2019 season include Sheppard, Rudolph, Mat Williamson, Jimmy Phelps, Billy Decker, Ryan Godown, Peter Britten, Jack Lehner, Demetrios Drellos, Mike Mahaney, Danny Johnson, Marcus Dinkins, Rusty Smith, Larry Wight and Paul St. Sauver.

A number of Quebec competitors are expected to join the mix as well, including the “Cowboy” Steve Bernard. Bernard made two appearances this season in a 358-Modified and collected top 10 finishes both times.

The Poirier’s True Value Sportsman Modifieds will be competing in a 35-lap, $1,000 to win points event. Additionally, the Chris Frennier Motorsports Strictly Stocks will compete for $250 to win in a 20-lap feature.

Admission prices are set at $30 for adults and $10 for kids ages six to 12. Grandstands will open at 4 p.m., with the first green flag set to fly at 7 p.m.
