Short Track Super Series ‘North Vs. South’ Battle Arrives At Big Diamond June 4th
Story By: BRETT DEYO / SHORT TRACK SUPER SERIES – MINERSVILLE, PA – The annual ‘North vs. South’ Civil War of Big Diamond Speedway is set to be waged on Tuesday night (June 4).
Both regions of the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco clash in Coal Country for the ‘Anthracite Assault’ featuring the STSS Modifieds and STSS Crate 602 Sportsman.
Points toward the Halmar International North Region and Velocita-USA South Region presented by Design for Vision and Sunglass Central will be awarded for both open-wheel divisions.
STSS Modifieds race 50 laps with $5,000-plus on the line, $1,000 for 10th and $400 to take the green flag. With implications toward the $12,500 North Region title and $10,000 South Region championship, competitors will bring their “A-Game” to Big Diamond.
Stewart Friesen sits atop the Halmar International North points entering Tuesday’s event with Billy Decker, Mike Gular, Matt Sheppard, Anthony Perrego, Mike Mahaney, Mat Williamson, Andy Bachetti, Danny Johnson and Danny Creeden in tow.

Matt Sheppard is the STSS Velocita-USA South Region presented by Design for Vision and Sunglass Central leader. Craig Von Dohren, Jeff Strunk, Ryan Watt, David Van Horn, Stewart Friesen, Anthony Perrego, Jordan Watson, Mike Gular and Billy Pauch Jr. complete the top 10.

Like their Modified counterparts, STSS Crate 602 Sportsman will be racing for North and South points in their $1,500-to-win, 20-lap event. Fresh off a win in the opener at Thunder Mountain Speedway in Center Lisle, N.Y., last Sunday, Tim Hartman Jr. is the North Region leader. Jim Housworth tops the South Region chart.
