Second Win Of 2019 At Albany-Saratoga Has Peter Britten Firing On All Cylinders
Story By: BOBBY CHALMERS / PETER BRITTEN RACING – WEEDSPORT, NY – It was a weekend that Peter Britten and his team was looking for. Four races and four solid runs for the Troyer Race Cars, Integra Shocks #21A team, including a victory Friday night at Albany-Saratoga Speedway.
Britten, who won at the track back on May 10th, had the right setup in his machine and was able to hold off fellow Troyer racer Ryan Godown to become the first multi-time feature winner of the season at the ‘Great Race Place.’
“Hats off to everybody on my crew and the team at Troyer,” Britten said. “We haven’t been at our best the last couple of races at Albany, but last week we hit on a few ideas and they proved to be the good for us.”
With the victory, Britten moved within 14 points of championship leader Brett Hearn in the quest for his second track title at Albany. On Saturday, it was double features at Lebanon Valley and Peter was able to come from deep in the starting field in both races and produce solid top 10 finishes. He finished sixth in the Maynard Forrette Memorial and then in the nightcap came home seventh in the JC Flach Memorial.
“We had a good car in both races at the Valley,” he said. “We just needed that little bit more to contend for the win. Our Wilwood brake package is strong for the high speeds at the Valley and our exhaust from Beyea really helps showcase our Billy the Kid horsepower.”
Peter now sits solidly in second in Valley points. just 26 markers behind Andy Bachetti and 10 ahead of the King of the Valley, Kenny Tremont. On Sunday, the team headed to Weedsport Speedway for the All Star Challenge and Peter came home with a 14th place finish, and even more valuable information to help dial in the team’s brand new Troyer race car.
“We had a bad draw on Sunday, and that put us behind,” he said. “But we were able to make major gains with the car and come away with a solid finish.”
Up next for Peter and team 21A is another three-race weekend with stops at Albany-Saratoga on Friday, Lebanon Valley on Saturday, and the Modified Series at Weedsport Speedway on Sunday.
