DIRTcar Sportsman Series Highlights Sunday Action At Utica-Rome Speedway
Story By: JOHN TIFF / UTICA-ROME SPEEDWAY – VERNON, NY – After a successful weekend of motocross racing action, the half-mile track at Utica-Rome Speedway will resume the 2019 season schedule this Sunday night, June 16.
Community Car Wash and Pioneer Window Manufacturing Corporation presents the DIRTcar Sportsman Series which features a $1,000 winner’s prize. Qualifying procedures for the DIRTcar Sportsman main-event includes timed warm-ups, heat races and consolations to set the field for the 30-lap race.
Joining the DIRTcar Sportsman Series on the night’s schedule is the Dirt Nostalgia Tour, the DirtTrackDigest.com DIRTcar 358-Modifieds, Ted’s Body Shop DIRTcar Pro Stocks and Bernie’s Extreme Performance Parts Rookie Sportsman.
Utica-Rome Speedway has only been able to run one race date so far in the 2019 season due to weather conditions. That came three weeks ago when Billy Dunn picked up a thrilling victory over Larry Wight in the DIRTcar 358-Modified division. Matt Janczuk opened the DIRTcar Sportsman season with a win while Nick Stone outlasted a strong field of Ted’s Body Shop DIRTcar Pro Stocks to get the win. Payton Talbot was victorious in the Rookie Sportsman division.
Pit gates on Sunday, June 16 will open at 3:30 pm while spectator gates swing open at 4 pm with the heat races beginning promptly at 6 pm. Adult general admission is set for $13, Senior/Military/Students are $10 while kids 16 and under are free. Pit admission for the night is $27 for DIRTcar members and $30 for non-members.
