“Come ‘N Get It” At Albany-Saratoga Now To Be Part Of Big September Weekend
Story By: TOM BOGGIE / ALBANY-SARATOGA SPEEDWAY – MALTA, NY – The “Come ‘N Get It” Modified Shootout at Albany-Saratoga Speedway was postponed for the third time Wednesday because of weather.
The 54-lap shootout, which will pay $5,400 to win through sponsorship by Bart Contracting and Schaghticoke Wine & Spirits, was originally scheduled as the season-opening race on April 19. Four modified heats and three sportsman heats were run before rain ended the remainder of the card.
The rain date of April 23 was also washed out.
The “Come ‘N Get It” card has now been rescheduled for Thursday, Sept. 19, as a lead-in to Albany-Saratoga Speedway’s spectacular Super DIRTcar Series weekend, which will include racing on Sept. 20 and Sept 21.
But promoter Lyle DeVore has added a new twist for the “Come ‘N Get It” shootout. He’s going to add last-chance qualifiers to the card.
“We’re going to run last-chance qualifiers in addition to the consi’s,” said DeVore. “That will give the guys who couldn’t get here for the opener another chance to get in the show.”
Anthony Perrego, Billy Decker, Larry Wight and Matt Sheppard won the modified heat races on April 19, and will start in the first two rows when “Come ‘N Get It” takes the green flag on Sept. 19.
