Ontario Dirt Tracks Announce 2019 Duel On The Dirt Schedule

Story By: CLAYTON JOHNS / ONTARIO DIRT COMPETITION COMMITTEE – BRIGHTON, ONT – The Ontario Dirt Competition Committee (ODCC) member tracks are pleased to release the 2019 schedule for the Insta-Panels Duel on the Dirt Series for Street Stocks and Mini Stocks.

The tracks included on the schedule include all five ODCC member tracks, including Brighton Speedway, Humberstone Speedway, Merrittville Speedway, Ohsweken Speedway and the newly renamed Southern Ontario Motor Speedway.

For the first time, the Duel on the Dirt will have a governing body for its 2019 season. The ODCC, created last fall with a combination of track promoters and drivers, created a common set of rules for Street Stock and Mini Stock-type racecars that all five member tracks will adhere to for weekly and Duel on the Dirt competition.

“We are excited for the continuation of the Insta-Panels Duel on the Dirt Series in 2019,” said Brighton Speedway owner/promoter Mark Rinaldi. “The Series is expanding to its biggest schedule yet and we hope with the implementation of the ODCC rules for the first time we will see our largest car counts ever.”

With the addition of a Street Stock combined race at Southern Ontario Motor Speedway and Mini Stock home track races at Brighton and Southern Ontario, the Duel on the Dirt will be at its largest reach to date, with a total of eight combined races across two divisions at five racetracks.

In the Street Stock class, Brighton Speedway track champion Wade Purchase of Demoresville, Ont. will look to defend his first career Duel on the Dirt title that he earned at his home track last September. In the four-cylinder Mini Stock class, Cole Hardy of Welland, Ont. will be back in action to try and defend both his Duel on the Dirt and Humberstone Speedway track championships. Last season, the Street Stock division saw a total of 82 drivers enter a Duel on the Dirt race while the Mini Stock division welcomed 60 divisions at three tracks.
