Kraig Kinser Focused On ‘Wicked’ Performance During World Finals WoO Season Finale
Story By: SHAWN MILLER / STEVE KINSER RACING – CONCORD, NC – Kraig Kinser has his eyes on finishing the 2018 season on a high note this weekend during the World of Outlaws World Finals.
Kinser enters the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series season finale, which runs Thursday through Saturday at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., ranked 10th in the championship standings. If he can maintain that position it will be the ninth different season that he’s garnered a top 10 in the standings with ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt.’
“I’ve had some success there and I’m looking to end the year on a strong note,” he said. “Charlotte can be good for us. It’s all about getting qualifying. Thursday sets the tone for the whole weekend. As wide as it gets and as slick as it can get, even if you qualify bad if you can just get in the feature you’ve got a chance to make some moves.”
Kinser will be donning the Wicked Cushion logo this weekend as well.
“I want to thank everyone at Wicked Cushion for coming on board,” he said. “We’re looking forward to a fun and successful weekend.”
Kinser raced last Sunday at Port Royal Speedway during the Tuscarora 50, which was plagued by rain all weekend until the finale was run on Sunday afternoon.
“It’s a tough place, especially as fast as it was all night,” he said. “I wish it had got slicker. Passing was tough until the feature. You do the best you can. Starting dead last in a stacked B Main on a fast track, it’s an uphill battle. You take what you can from nights like that.”
Kinser timed in 20th quickest during qualifying and a seventh-place run in a heat race relegated him to the C Main. He finished second to transfer into the back of the Last Chance Showdown. Kinser capped the night by charging from 20th to 12th in the consolation race.
