Donny Schatz Powers To Podium Finish With Outlaws At Fulton Speedway
Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / TONY STEWART RACING – BROWNSBURG, IN – In conjunction with New York’s annual Super DIRT Week, Fargo, North Dakota’s Donny Schatz continued his 2018 World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series campaign with a one-night stop at Fulton Speedway on Saturday, October 6, officially kicking off a busy October schedule for the Greatest Show On Dirt that includes events in six states across four weekends.
In true championship form, Schatz’s trip to the Empire State was undoubtedly successful, finishing third during main event competition after starting fourth on the grid, ultimately boosting his top-five season total to 46 with the World of Outlaws. The podium run was a third consecutive for Schatz at Fulton Speedway which includes a victory in 2016.
The pilot of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Textron Off Road/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/No. 15 sprint car kicked off the evening program in central New York with a runner-up finish during heat race action.
“It was a good way for this team to kick off the month,” Donny Schatz said, the nine-time and defending World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series champion. “The recent weekend was fairly calm compared to what we are up against during the next few weeks. We’ve officially hit the homestretch of our season. This team is still hungry for victories so we’re going to keep working hard and hopefully add a few more to the list.”
Donny Schatz will continue this 2018 championship quest with three starts in three days in three states, first invading the Land of Lincoln on Friday, October 12, followed by stops in the Hoosier State and the Buckeye State on October 13 & 14, respectively. The weekend triple-header will include visits to Jacksonville (Ill.) Speedway, Terre Haute (Ind.) Speedway, and Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.
Schatz will enter the weekend with 19 World of Outlaws victories to his credit in 2018, four of which at the World’s Greatest Dirt Track, the most recent being the $50,000 Kings Royal in mid-July.
