World Of Outlaws Late Models To Invade Georgetown Thursday, August 16th: $10,000-To-Win!
Story By: BRETT DEYO / GEORGETOWN SPEEDWAY – GEORGETOWN, DE – The Outlaws are coming! The World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series invades Georgetown Speedway on Thursday, August 16 for the ‘Fulton Bank 40’ paying a massive $10,000 to win for 40 laps around the Sussex County half-mile oval.
The series makes its only visit to the region with primary sponsorship once again from Fulton Bank.
Last season, Ohio’s Devon Moran picked up the victory and accompanying 10k by fending off the advances of Delaware native Austin Hubbard in the final laps. Hubbard closed on Moran in late-race lapped traffic, bringing the Delmarva fans to their feet.
Brandon Sheppard, Rick Eckert and Chris Madden completed the front five.
This year, a pair of Super Late Model events have been run at Georgetown. Dale Hollidge of Mechanicsville, Md., won the June 29 ‘Clash for Cash’ event and took home $3,500. The “Wild Child” Amanda Whaley of Millsboro, Del., was the July 20 victor. She received $3,250 and a guaranteed starting spot in the late-September Bedford (Pa.) Speedway Keystone Cup.
Both Hollidge and Whaley are expected to challenge the touring invaders.
