Big Money Awaits Short Track Super Series Winner July 29th At BAPS Motor Speedway

Story By: BRETT DEYO / SHORT TRACK SUPER SERIES – NEWBERRYTOWN, PA – With $10,000 awaiting the winner of a 50-lap main event, the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco approaches its richest event of the year on Sunday, July 29.

The red clay of BAPS Motor Speedway is the host, while Sunoco Race Fuels and Insinger Performance present the York County Nationals for STSS big-block/small-block Modifieds in the division’s sole 2018 appearance at the Newberrytown, Pa., facility.

In two previous performances, the STSS Modifieds have thrilled fans at BAPS Motor Speedway with three-wide racing and exciting finishes.

This year’s edition, which again features a 50-lap sprint to the checkered, is sure to do the same.

In 2016, a late-race flat tire sent Anthony Perrego limping to the pits, with Ringoes, N.J.’s Ryan Godown the beneficiary, taking home a $5,000 top prize in the return of the Modifieds.

A year ago, Ransomville, N.Y., standout Erick Rudolph snookered Stewart Friesen to pocket an increased $10,000 for his Randy Chrysler operation.

Once again, the annual BAPS stop is the richest event on the STSS circuit with a cool 10k awaiting the winner, $1,000 for 10th and $400 just to take the green flag.

This year’s event is sponsored by Sunoco Race Fuels and regional distributor Insinger Performance based in Dushore, Pa.

The York County Nationals is scheduled to serve as Race No. 5 of the eight-race STSS Velocita-USA South Region, which rewards its champion with $10,000 at year-end.

Since ownership of the former Susquehanna Speedway was taken by Scott Gobrecht and Kolten Gouse was appointed speedway manager in 2015, upgrades have been non-stop to the four-tenths-mile facility including a fresh surface, sound system, grandstand renovations, lights, new suites, pit area work, concession and restroom upgrades, aesthetic improvements and much, much more.

It is a showcase facility for the Modifieds in the Central Pennsylvania market.

Joining the STSS Modifieds on the card for the second consecutive year are the Central PA Legends Cars.

Complete race information can be found on the STSS website at: https://bdmotorsportsmedia.com/york-co-rules-prices-generalinfo/

Early registration for the event is open through the series website.

A rain date for this event is earmarked for Sunday, August 19.
