Danny Dietrich Gets Fourth Win Of 2018 During Visit To Port Royal Speedway
Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / DANNY DIETRICH RACING – GETTYSBURG, PA – Danny Dietrich was one position shy of a perfect weekend in Central Pennsylvania.
After finishing second at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, the result of an impressive charge from the outside of row five, the Gettysburg native did one better on Saturday night at Port Royal Speedway and earned a main event victory. The win, his fourth of the 2018 season and first at the Port Royal “Speed Palace,” was accomplished in dominate fashion, taking the top spot officially on lap three and running away to a near-four second lead.
Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing now own victories at three tracks in 2018, adding their Port Royal Speedway triumph to a list that already includes Lincoln Speedway (two wins) and BAPS Motor Speedway.
“Traveling to Port Royal wasn’t really on our weekend plan, but I’m sure glad it worked out,” Danny Dietrich explained, pilot of the Weikert’s Livestock/Sandoe’s Fruit Market/Pace Performance/Gsell’s Whitetails/Hickory Run Orchards/Drop Of Ink Tattoo/Sweeney Cars/Self Made/No. 48 sprint car . “Things were clicking for us all weekend. Putting together a pair of finishes like that says a lot, especially when it includes a charge from tenth at Williams Grove Speedway. May is pretty loaded. If we are going to get hot, this is a great time to do it. We’ll see how things go.”
Danny Dietrich will continue his 2018 campaign with a trio of starts in Central Pennsylvania, first returning to the world-famous Williams Grove Speedway on Friday evening, May 11, followed by the $6,900-to-win Weldon Sterner Memorial at the “Fabulous” Lincoln Speedway on Saturday, May 12, all capped off with the $4,900-to-win Kevin Gobrecht Classic at BAPS Motor Speedway on Sunday, May 13.
