Accord Speedway To Salute Veterans On WRWD Radio Night This Week
Story By: STEVE PADOS / ACCORD SPEEDWAY – ACCORD, NY – Accord Speedway Promoters Gary and Donna Palmer, in conjunction with WRWD Radio 107.3 FM, will usher in the Memorial Day weekend at their superb quarter mile speedplant located in the Catskill Mountains of New York State on Friday evening, May 25th.
WRWD Radio personality Uncle Mike Hansen is in charge of the festivities that will feature favorite WRWD musics selections for two hours beginning at 4:00. The evening of speed will be presented by the good folks at WRWD Radio 107.3 FM in the Hudson Valley, playing the best country music in the greater Catskills area.
Once the presentation is completed, the racing will commence with six divisions of racing scheduled. The early season, even though hindered by a rainout, has been fantastic with the Insinger Fuels Modified division having four different winners in the first four events. Much the same can be said for the Upstate Auto Pure Stock division as each event has produced a new winner. Three-time track champion “The Bushkill Bullet” Kyle Rohner is on fire at the speedway in 2018 and has captured two of the four races presented thus far and with youngsters Anthony Recchio and Danny Morgiewicz each capturing an event. 2017 Rookie of the Year in the Sprint cars Bobby Tersillo has transitioned into a top flight open wheeler and has collected three WRWD Radio Wingless Sprint Car features with “The Travelin Man” Mick D’Agostino winning most recently in his rookie season at Accord. Four winners have been documented for the WRWD Radio Rookie Sportsman events. The Emmanuel’s Marketplace Fireball 4-Cylinder division has taken on a new dimension in their return to the speedway as full car counts and good racing have highlighted their shows and Jeff DeGroat winning two of the four events held.
Racing is on tap every Friday night at Accord Speedway from April through September. Pit Gates open at 4:30; Spectator Gates open at 5:00; Hot Laps are at 6:30 and the racing begins at 7 PM. Admission for Adults $14.00; Seniors (65+) $12.00; Children $3.00 (11+ under) Indoor Seating $20.00; Family four pack special: 2 Adults + 2 Children and $20.00 in Accord Bucks for $44.00 (a savings of $10.00) Special event shows do have an increase in admission.
June 1st brings the NPS Paving Night to the Accord Speedway for seven divisions of great racing excitement. The East Coast Wingless Sprint Cars will take their initial appearance of the season to display their own brand of wingless magic excitement to the speedway channels.
Another reminder to all fans and 602 Crate Sportsman drivers. The speedway will host a special Sportsman Shootout on June 13th offering $1,000.00 to the winner and $100.00 to take the green. Upstate Auto Pure Stocks and Emmanuel’s Marketplace Fireball 4-Cylinders will round out the Midweek card.
