Trevor Baker Sets Fast Time At Atomic; Will Return With All Stars Friday
Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / T-REV PERFORMANCE – SHREVE, OH – With Attica Raceway Park pulling the plug due to Mother Nature, Shreve, Ohio’s Trevor Baker made a late-week decision to join the field at Atomic Speedway for the facility’s season opener on March 31, using the trip as a test session for the upcoming Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 visit on April 6.
The trip to the southern Ohio highbanks proved successful, crossing under the final checkers 13th in the running order after finishing fourth during his respective heat race. Baker kicked-off the evening program by recording the fastest time during qualifying time trials.
Baker, who will compete for Rookie of the Year honors with the All Stars in 2018, was battling for positions well inside the top-ten, as high as sixth, before settling for 13th.
“Things were going pretty well for us up until that point. Our throttle linkage came apart on the last lap forcing us to crawl to the finish,” Trevor Baker explained, driver of the T-Rev Performance/Bakers Mobile Home Transport/Exodus Cycle/Coblentz Trucking/H&S Concrete/Mid Ohio Diesel/No. 45 sprint car. “It was in our best interest to go to Atomic Speedway on Saturday. Our plan was to go to Attica, but when they canceled, we jumped right on the opportunity. We learned a lot. We’ll put our notes to the test this Friday when we go back to Chillicothe.”
Trevor Baker will continue his 2018 campaign with a pair of Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 events on Friday and Saturday, April 6-7. The Rookie of the Year contender will make the trip back to Chillicothe on Friday to revisit Atomic Speedway, followed by an appearance at Attica Raceway Park on Saturday. Each event will award $5,000 top prizes, as well as full points toward the 2018 All Star championship.
