Non-Qualifiers To Dip In Land Of Legends Raceway Season-Ending Prize Pool

Story By: TOM SKIBINSKI / LAND OF LEGENDS RACEWAY – CANANDAIGUA, NY – The increase in weekly race purses and season-ending point fund awards for all classes competing at Land of Legends Raceway in 2018 has triggered great interest among race teams both old and new.

With a total purse in excess of $22,000 reserved for each ‘Saturday Spectacular’ showcasing Pepsi Big-Block Modified, Donath Motor Worx Sportsman, Big Dog Country Street Stock and Mike Emhof Motorsports 305 Sprint Car classes, along with 100% of every driver’s pit entry fee contributed to their respective class point fund, teams have good reason to call Canandaigua home every weekend during the upcoming race season.

Despite the recent inclement weather, LOLR Promoter Paul Cole has gone one step further as the April 21 season-opener quickly approaches, adding a unique non-qualifiers prize pool that is open to every competitor in all four featured divisions.

“Supporting our racers and those who build the cars they race is good for everyone in the industry,” stated Cole, on the heels of outlining another one of his ground-breaking prize funds designed to benefit drivers who frequent the famed half-miler. “We’re anticipating high car counts this season so we want to offer some extra incentive to teams even if they fail to qualify. All our funds are created to reward those committed to racing with us, and knowing there’s only one race winner in each division on Saturday its important to keep the rest of the field coming back.”

With anticipation running high for solid car counts in 2018, all non-qualifiers in any regular feature race —excluding Super DIRTcar Series and 360 Sprint Classic Series events— will have a chip entered into an exclusive prize pool. A special drawing from these chips will be held at the year-end LOLR awards banquet with the lucky winners enjoying numerous bonuses.

Among the contingencies collected from the growing list of Land of Legends Raceway marketing partners may be a Hoosier Tire, VP Racing Fuel or Champion Generator, although two major prizes already secured are a 2018x Bicknell Racing Products frame, body and bumper package ($9,000 value) and a 2018 Donath Motor Worx 602 crate engine ($5,000 value).

Drivers in all four classes of competition at LOLR will be eligible for these special non-qualifier prizes at season’s end. Complete rules and list of qualifications can be found posted on www.LandOfLegendsRaceway.com as they are made available.

Last year 34 drivers earned points in both the Big-Block Modified and Street Stock divisions, 66 made the Sportsman points chart and 13 were scored in the 305 Sprint Car ranks.

The 2018 season is scheduled to begin April 21 when Product 9 & Daldry Canvas present a five-star show of Pepsi Big-Block Modified, Donath Motor Worx Sportsman, Big Dog Country Street Stock, Mike Emhof Motorsports 305 Sprint Car and New Legends Sportsman racing. A special practice session from 12noon-2:30 p.m. kicks off opening-day activity before the first qualifying event goes green at 7.
