Albany-Saratoga Schedules Inspection & Practice Dates
Story By: JO ANN DAVIES / ALBANY-SARATOGA SPEEDWAY – MALTA, NY – Albany-Saratoga Speedway has scheduled two pre-season opening dates for racers to get a head start on the 2018 season.
On Sunday, April 8, the track will host a Spring Swap Meet as well as a Track Tech and Safety Inspection with gates opening at noon that day. The Swap Meet is open to all to attend and provides a great opportunity for teams to sell and buy needed equipment and tools. There is a $25 vendor fee that is payable at the gate. The pit concession area will be open this day.
The Track Tech and Safety Inspection will be done by track inspector John Cummings and staff and is open for all classes. “This is a great opportunity for our racers to have an opportunity to have their race cars inspected prior to the start of the season and be able to fine tune any concerns or issues that might be identified,” stated track promoter Lyle DeVore.
Friday, April 13, is an open practice day for all divisions. Pit gates will open at 3 p.m. for inspection with practice from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There is a $20 pit admission fee and grandstand spectating is free. There will be a concession stand open in the pit and grandstand areas. With $7,500 to win on the line for the opening night Modified program it is anticipated there will be many teams in attendance for this practice session.
“I’d like to encourage as many teams as possible to make the April 8 early inspection,” said DeVore, “because those who have made it through that inspection will be able to get on track for the April 13 practice as soon as we open the track and won’t be held up waiting to be inspected.”
The speedway plans to use Tuesday, April 17, as a rain date should the April 13 practice be cancelled due to weather.
