Changes In Store For 2018 At Brockville Ontario Speedway
Story By: JIM CLARKE / BROCKVILLE ONTARIO SPEEDWAY – BROCKVILLE, ONT – Another exciting season of DIRTcar action may still be a few months away, but that hasn’t kept the crew at Brockville Ontario Speedway from working hard to make sure everything is ready for the first green flag of the 2018 schedule.
Track owner and promoter Paul Kirkland and his team are busy crossing t’s and dotting i’s as they cross items off their opening night checklist. The boss at The BOS says he relied on fan feedback – including comments on the track’s social media platforms – when it came to things that needed to be done.
“Whether they’re entering through the grandstand or pit area gate, we need to give fans and race teams the best possible experience,” Paul Kirkland said. “One of our biggest orders of off-season business is making upgrades to our washroom facilities. Main grandstand washrooms will be freshened and cleaned-up for 2018. Every Saturday night, there will be a customer care responsible for ensuring washrooms are clean and supplies fully stocked. Pit area bathroom facilities will also be replaced and maintained throughout the year.”
On the track, the motorsports community is buzzing with news of the inaugural 1000 Islands RV Battle at the Border Series for 358 Mods. The 35 lap ‘A’ mains will be held Friday, June 8th and July 13th at Can Am Speedway – just across the St. Lawrence – in Lafargeville, New York. Saturday, June 9th and July 14th at Brockville. Also new this summer is the Wednesday, August 8th debut of the ‘Bullringer 110’, presented by RTD Trailers. A 110 lap Small Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series event, paying $10,000 to win; along with a 110 lap Sportsman-Modified tour stop, with a $2,000 winner’s payday.
Fans will also notice something different when it comes to the 2018 running of the DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals. After having 1000 Islands RV as the event’s title sponsor since its inception, this year’s edition of the season ending spectacular will have backing from the Loud n’ Dirty Apparel brand. Kirkland says that having a new identity for one of the track’s marquee shows is a win-win situation.
“It was great to have 1000 Islands RV lend their name to the Fall Nationals and they’ll still have a hand in many of the things we’ll do throughout the year,” Kirkland said. “Bringing Loud n’ Dirty Apparel on board starting this year will introduce our fans to an exciting brand, while bringing their supporters to Brockville Speedway to witness some thrilling racing, with some of the sports biggest stars.”
