Ryan Smith Victorious In Australia, Third In Final USA/Western Australia Speedweek Standings
Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / RYAN SMITH RACING – KUNKLETOWN, PA – The “Kunkletown Kid” Ryan Smith represented his Pennsylvania fanbase well during his inaugural trip Down Under, participating in a series of Western Australia Speedweek events stretching from December 26 until January 6.
Smith, who piloted an entry under the Kendrick Racing banner, earned three podium finishes during his stint across the globe, which included a victory at Quit Bunbury City Speedway in Bunbury, Western Australia.
In addition to his first-ever Australian triumph, Smith finished second to teammate, Jason Kendrick, during a start at Perth Motorplex in Perth, capping off his trip with a third place finish back at Quit Bunbury City Speedway on Saturday, January 6. Smith’s trio of podium performances was enough to solidify a third place finish in the final Western Australia vs. USA Sprint Car Speedweek standings.
“What a trip. That was an experience i’ll never forget,” Ryan Smith explained, who will return to the United States just in time to participate in the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals. “Kendrick Racing gave me an opportunity of a lifetime and I am most grateful for it.
