Big 50-Lappers For Sportsman, Hoosier Stocks & Trucks Saturday At Merrittville
Story By: JIM IRVINE / MERRITTVILLE SPEEDWAY – THOROLD, ONT – Cotton Inc – Niagara’s Complete Concrete Contractor is set to complete Merrittville Speedway’s 2017 Season Saturday September 9th with the Southern Ontario Sprints Championship Night.
The S&W Service Centre Sportsman will also be featured in a Super DIRTcar Series 50 lap Event as will the Hoosier Stocks in a 50 lap Duel on the Dirt Combined Event as well. Rounding out the final event of the season …the Eataly Foods Pro 4 Triple Truck Challenge Series Finale and the Novice Sportsman.
“It’s shaping up to quite a night,” said Merrittville’s Don Spiece, “there’s definitely something for everyone in our Season Finale … whether you like Sprint Cars … Sportsman … Street Stocks or Trucks – there’s some of the best drivers on Dirt coming together for an action-packed night.”
Race Fans will see some familiar names when the Southern Ontario Sprints make their annual visit. Point Leader Dylan Westbrook has already won a Sprint Car Feature back on June 24th’s Avondale Food Stores Night. Looking at the standings … you will see Shawn Sliter and rookie Josh Sliter second and third.
With one Western Region Sportsman Series Event in the books (July 25th at Ohsweken Speedway) – Brad Rouse leads the standings going into the three race weekend. James Henry, Darrell Farraway, Matt Farnham and Mark Chiddy round out the top 5 with Jay Mallory, Chad Chevalier, Adam Leslie and Jordan Cosco as the top 10.
In the Duel on the Dirt Home Track and Combined Events completed to date – Ryan Dinning, Ryan Beagle, Dave Bailey, Rob Murray, Doug Anderson and Wade Purchase have all visited Victory Lane at Ohsweken, Merrittville, Humberstone and Brighton Speedways.
After Merrittville’s 50 lap $1000 to win Combined Event – a Home Track Event at Ohsweken and a Combined Event at Brighton remain on the schedule to determine the 2017 Duel on the Dirt Champion.
