Tuesday Storm Forces Postponement Of Georgetown’s ‘Blast At The Beach’ To Wednesday
Story By: BRETT DEYO / GEORGETOWN SPEEDWAY – GEORGETOWN, DE – A Coastal Low expected to produce high winds and more than an inch of rain on Tuesday has forced the postponement of the ‘Blast at the Beach 4’ at Georgetown Speedway to Wednesday, August 30.
All indications for a wet and blustery Tuesday forced the use of the event’s scheduled rain date.
The ‘Blast at the Beach 4’ will be moved in its entirety to Wednesday.
The event is headlined by the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By VP big-block/small-block Modifieds paying $5,500 to the winner, $1,000 for 10th and $400 to take the green flag for 35 laps of racing. This is event No. 6 of the STSS Velocita-USA South Region.
Also on the card: L&J Sheet Metal Crate 602 Sportsman for $1,000 to win, Delmarva Chargers and Delaware Super Trucks.
Sponsorship for the event comes from K&B Auto of Delmar, Clark’s Pools, American Portable Mini Storage and All-County Garage Door.
Pit gates will open at 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Grandstand gates unlock at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 6:20 p.m. and racing at 7:15 p.m.
Adult admission is $20. Seniors (ages 65 and up) and Students (ages 13-17) pay $16. Kids 9-12 pay $10. Children eight and under are admitted FREE. Pit admission is $35 (ages 13 and up), $10 for Kids 6-12 and Children five and under pay $2.
Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
