RPW’s “Hot Mic” With Mike Keeler: Overcoming Adversity
Story By: RYAN HILL / RPW – DANBURY, CT – Saturday night may not have been an actual win for Mike Keeler, and his Mike Keeler Motorsports #55 Big Block Modified team, but to the team it sure felt that way.
Mike has battled bad luck all season in 2017, and the team has been itching to put the bad luck behind them Saturday night when they unloaded their Montanari Fuel #55 Teo Pro Car at Lebanon Valley Speedway.
“Hot Mic” is where drivers speak directly to you, and here is what Mike had to say on the bad luck, how it affected the team, and where they hope to be headed in the future.
“After a string of DNF’s and rainouts a second place finish in the heat race, and leading half of our feature, and finishing with a 6th place Saturday was a great start to turning our season around.
It was really nice to run up front, and actually be able to feel the car out. Our Teo Pro Car performed flawlessly, we were able to lead for a long time on Saturday. We had a couple great side by side battles with Kyle Armstrong and LJ Lombardo.
I feel that we have finally got the monkey off our back, and I am looking forward to some top ten finishes for the remainder of the season.
I am not going to lie the string of bad luck was definitely draining. We spent all winter updating our program, and building a top notch piece, but this 55 team never gives up, and we certainly will not quit when luck does not go our way.
We are focusing on trying to fix the issues at hand and always look forward to the next week. Everyone kept saying that one of these weeks our luck will turn around, I am happy it finally did.”
Mike Keeler Motorsports is a family owned and operated team, and Mike is always appreciative of all the help he receives to get the car to the track, and they always strive to put out the best performance possible.
Mike added “I want to thank my wife Mandy for keeping me focused, motivated, and not losing sight of why we do this together. I also have to thank my father, and my crew Rick, Jim, Al, and Tomm for sticking with me week in and week out, and never giving up.”
“It has been a tough season so far, but after Saturday it feels like it may only be the beginning!”
Mike Keeler will race next this Saturday at Lebanon Valley Speedway with his Montanari Fuel Big Block Modified #55 car.
