Michael Aims For Lou Blaney Memorial At Sharon Speedway

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / TJ MICHAEL MOTORSPORTS – FREMONT, OH – Despite a disappointing end to an outstanding effort at Wayne County (OH) Speedway, the “Texas Traveler” T.J. Michael is still aiming high at the upcoming weekend, anxious to return to Sharon (OH) Speedway with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions for the Ninth Annual Lou Blaney Memorial. The $5,000-to-win headliner, set for Saturday, July 8, is the only Arctic Cat All Star program during the upcoming weekend.

Michael’s Wayne County Speedway effort was on pace to be one of his best of the season. After timing fourth fastest during his group qualifying session, the Plano, Texas, native went on to finish second during his respective heat race; an automatic transfer and dash position. While racing inside the top-ten during the 30-lap main event, Michael’s motor expired, forcing an early retirement and a 17th place finish.

“That’s tough, especially after starting out the night so well,” Michael said in response to his Wayne County Speedway finish. “Those things happen. This time it was out of our control. The only thing we can do is put that in the back of our minds and move on to the next race. Our results before our motor blew speak for themselves. I’m excited to get going again at Sharon.”

Michael will enter Sharon Speedway gates with one top-ten finish during Arctic Cat All Star competition in 2017, qualifying for a total of 17 main events. The second year All Star traveler is currently sixth in the Series point championship.
