McFadden Qualifies For First Kings Royal; Looks Forward To Williams Grove

Story By: ANTHONY CORINI / HIGHLANDS RACING – NEWVILLE, PA – After spending the past week on the road, McFadden and the Highlands racing team will return ‘home’ this weekend as Williams Grove hosts its annual ‘Summer Nationals’ sanctioned by the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.

The trip to Eldora and Lernerville had ups and downs and left McFadden and the “3 team” still scratching their heads on finding car speed late in the night. After motor problems prematurely ended Thursday’s event at Eldora, McFadden and the Highlands team qualified for the A-Main the following two nights at Eldora in fields of 53 and 54 car fields, respectively. The feat was both James’ and car owner Matt Highlands first start in the famous Kings Royal.

At Lernerville Tuesday, McFadden won the Last Chance Showdown to qualify for the prestigious Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup, but that’s where the success ended as McFadden retired the Highlands No. 3 halfway through the race.

Now, the team is looking for more. McFadden and Highlands didn’t team up to just qualify for these races. They both want and expect to be up front. Fortunately, the team has just a few days off before going back to work at Williams Grove this Friday and Saturday to turn it around. McFadden had a pair of strong outings at Williams Grove during Pennsylvania Speedweek last week and will be looking to build off of that as the team searches for more car speed.
