Hebert Looks To Challenge Super DIRTcar Regulars At Autodrome Granby
Story By: MARTIN BELANGER / DIRTCAR – CONCORD, NC – Part of the always popular trip up north for the Super DIRTcar Series, the pristine Autodrome Granby will host the second stop on Tuesday, July 25. Coming off a solid fifth-place finish last season in this event, David Hebert is confident he can repeat similar results in this year’s race.
”The team has purchased a new car specifically to run Big-Block races,” mentioned the current points leader at Granby. ”We have the same engine package as last year, but I feel ready to compete.”
Driving the Paille Chevrolet Bicknell No.ONE machine to a strong start in 2017 – accumulating five of his six wins in the 358-Modified ranks at Granby, Drummond and RPM speedways – Hebert thinks he can mirror the results of last year.
”If the car drives well, we will be competitive,” he said.
In 2016, Matt Sheppard had the best finish over Stewart Friesen and Jimmy Phelps as Michael Parent was the only other local runner cracking the top 10 with Hebert. A fine field of 37 cars gathered in the 5/8-mile Granby pits.
Always one of the popular events of the season, the Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modified Tour attracts big crowds as the stars and cars of the Series draw fans from all over Quebec, Canada.
High speeds and a lot of action is expected during the promocourse.ca 100 as the Series also has a second date on the schedule on Friday, September 8, 2017.
The DIRTcar Pro-Stock and DIRTcar Sportsman will also be on the race card for that evening with regular events in both classes. Pit Gate will open at 4pm, with grandstands at 5pm, and racing action will begin at 7pm.
