Excitement Building For Nostalgia Night At Merrittville
Story By: JIM IRVINE / THOROLD, ONT – The Welland and Fort Erie Timber Marts are set to help Merrittville Speedway’s Reunion Committee celebrate 66 seasons of Saturday
Night Racing with the Annual Nostalgia Night July 15th.
“On behalf our fans of today and our Alumni … we’re all looking forward to welcoming the staff from both the Welland and Fort Erie Timber Marts,” said Merrittville’s Don Spiece, “with free draws and seat cushion giveaways … it will help build quite a celebration with all our Reunion Committee has planned as well. I’m a second generation racer so it’s cool to check out all the Vintage Race Cars and Racers.”
Just before race time at 7 PM, the 2017 Inductees into the L. St. Amand Enterprises Wall of Fame will take place on the front stretch atop the CAA Stage at the start finish line. 3 Auto FX Graphics creations will honor the newest inductees Neil Sharp and Lee Webber in addition to the CAA Niagara Dedication to Racing Honorees Bill Sargent and Howard Schram.
The Bobcat of Hamilton Weekly Racing Series program will feature the Pinty’s Delicious Foods 358 Modifieds in the 50 lap Jerry Winger Memorial in addition to regular events for the S&W Service Centre Sportsman, Wood Motor Company Modified Lites and the Central Fabricating & Welding 4 Cylinder Divisions.
A planned night off for the Hoosier Stocks will see Vintage Race Cars rounding out the racing action.
“We’re really looking forward to helping build a bridge to Merrittville’s past, “said (Welland’s GM) Jake den Hollander, “away from the track we share the same passion as any race team – we’re here to get the job done and will have some great deals to help”
