Edwards Takes Sunday Night Action At Glen Ridge

Information By: GLEN RIDGE MOTORSPORTS PARK – FULTONVILLE, NY – Sunday night was wild at the fastest ¼ mile on dirt, but the fans were treated to some close quarter action that saw Chad Edwards victorious in the Crate Modified division. Marty Kelly III picked up the win in Limited Sportsman, Nick Stone claimed back-to-back Pro Stock wins, PJ Bleau was victorious in 4-Cylinder Mini Stock action, and Darral Hulbert and John Constantino picked up Vintage wins.

Chris Curtis and Harry Shaffer II led the 25-lap Crate Modified feature to the green in what would be a caution-plagued feature. Curtis took the early lead and held it until lap six when Chad Edwards took the top spot, while Dave Constantino and Tim Hartman Jr. were making their way forward from their 9th and 11th place starting positions.

Constantino would take 2nd from Curtis and set his sights on Edwards for the top spot. Hartman worked his way up to 3rd, Brian Calabrese solid in 4th, and JaMike Sowle earned himself a 5th place run, but nobody was catching the Edwards 37 as he took his first win of the season at the ridge.

In the 25-lap Limited Sportsman feature action it was all Marty Kelly III, as he took the lead on the 1st lap and never looked back picking up his 1st career Sportsman win. Mike Jackson made his way to a solid 2nd place finish, while newcomer Lou Torres looked impressive in 3rd. Gary DeRocher held on for 4th and point leader Kathy Bellen worked her way up to 5th.

Nick Stone charged from 8th to 1st in the 20-lap Pro Stock feature event. He had his hands full with the 24v of Jason Samrov who settled in for a solid 2nd place finish. Ivan Joslin was able to fix his race rod from Saturday night to make Sunday’s show and grabbed a respective 3rd place finish. Cousin Luke Horning overcame adversity to end up 4th, while Shane Playford finished 5th rounding out the top five.

PJ Bleau and point leader Chris Andrews waged war in the 4-Cylinder Mini Stock feature go, but that was after a rough tumble for TJ Marlitt. He was uninjured, but his car has had better days. Back to the battle, Bleau and Andrews swapped paint and the lead, until Bleau pulled away for the win. Cole Lawton took 2nd from Andrews late in the race leaving the 00d in 3rd, Wayne Russell Jr. 4th, and Andy Graves 5th.

The Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modifieds were on hand and John Constantino took the lead early with his 124 ride until Darryl Hulbert took his big red number 8 to the lead. Hulbert and Constantino were both winners however, as the MVVDM has two divisions; Hulbert won Modified and Constantino won Sportsman.
