Woodhull Open Practice Scheduled For Sunday, July 16th
Story By: STEVEN OVENS / WOODHULL RACING – WOODHULL, NY – After the popularity of an open practice session that was held on a Sunday afternoon in June, Woodhull Raceway owners Ted and Brandi White are ready to host another practice day on Sunday July 16.
Racers will see a second day of action that weekend on Sunday, as the track will be open for practice sessions from 12:00 until 4:30. The main grandstands will be open FREE of charge, with pit passes being $10.
A limited menu will be available at the pit concession stand for lunch. If weather forces the track to cancel the Saturday July 15 program, open practice the following day will also be cancelled.
The practice time and laps are encouraged for the track’s youth division racers from the Woodhull Warriors, as these drivers will once again be participating in special ‘driving skill-builders’ on the track during hot laps. A pre-practice meeting with all of the Warrior drivers in attendance will take place at 11:45 at the pit shack.
The open session held in June saw twenty drivers from various divisions attend and turn needed laps to get that valuable seat time and work on their comfort level in their respective racecars.
“Since we held that session in June, drivers have been asking for the track to hold another Sunday session,” said track Media Director Steven Ovens.
“Ted and Brandi were pleased with the turnout the first time and are happy to provide track time like this that will benefit our racers and put on a great show on Saturday nights.”
Rookies in any division looking for seat time are encouraged to attend. The track will also be available to other drivers and divisions of cars, who would like to test their skills on the High Banks of Woodhull Raceway. ‘Any racecar, any tires’ are allowed for the hot lap session, regardless of whether the car is a weekly competitor or is a weekly division.
