Trenca Tackling Patriot Sprint Tour Tripleheader This Weekend
Story By: SHAWN MILLER / MUCCI MOTORSPORTS – CLAY, NY – Joe Trenca has a Patriot Sprint Tour tripleheader on tap this weekend.
Trenca and the Mucci Motorsports team will make their debut at McKean County Speedway in Smethport, Pa., on Thursday before venturing to Raceway 7 in Conneaut, Ohio, on Friday and Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pa., on Saturday.
“It’s nice to have a three-day weekend,” he said. “It’s two tracks I’m familiar with and we run well at both. I’ve never raced at McKean County Speedway. I’ve been watching some video so I’m excited to get there. It looks high banked and fast. I hope it fits my driving style.”
Trenca finished a season-best fourth during his lone visit to Raceway 7 this season. It marked his fourth straight season with a top 10 at the oval.
He placed sixth at Mercer Raceway Park last season and fifth in 2014.
Trenca dropped in the Patriot Sprint Tour American championship standings after missing last Saturday’s event at Stateline Speedway in Busti, N.Y., because the team’s hauler broke down en route to the track.
“That really hurt us in points so this weekend we’re looking for three strong results,” he said. “I think we can compete for wins and podiums, which would be huge for our team.
