Dietrich Heads Into PA Speedweek As Six-Time Central PA Winner
Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / DANNY DIETRICH RACING – GETTYSBURG, PA – After nearly two weeks of competition across much of Pennsylvania and Ohio, “Double-D” Danny Dietrich ended his busy schedule back in victory lane, this time scoring his fifth win of the 2017 season at the “Fabulous” Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pennsylvania.
The pilot of the Gary Kauffman Racing/Weikert’s Livestock/Sandoe’s Fruit Market/Pace Performance/Gsell’s Whitetails/Hickory Run Orchards/Carlisle Auto Salvage/CATS Used Truck Parts/Drop Of Ink Tattoo/Bowman Block & Head Repair/Sweeney Cars/Self Made/No. 48 charged forward from ninth on the grid to score his sixth Central Pennsylvania victory of the season, holding off his brother, Billy Dietrich, to score the $3,200 top prize.
In addition to his victory in Central Pennsylvania, Danny Dietrich scored a pair of top-five finishes against the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions during Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket. Aboard the Tom Buch-owned/APEX/Pace Performance/Sweeney Cars/No. 13, Danny Dietrich finished fifth at Sharon (OH) Speedway on Tuesday, June 20, followed by a runner-up finish at Waynesfield (OH) Raceway Park on Wednesday, June 21.
“We had a great week, and to end it like this is even better,” Danny Dietrich explained. “I can’t thank everyone enough. Tom Buch and Gary Kauffman each give me great opportunities, opportunities to race as much as I can. Things are clicking on both ends right now. I think we are capable of doing big things during PA Speedweek. We’ll see soon enough.”
With little time to waste, Danny Dietrich and company will move forward and spend the next four days preparing for Pennsylvania Sprint Speedweek competition. A schedule comprised of ten consecutive events at seven different facilities between June 30 and July 9, Pennsylvania Sprint Speedweek will kick-off on Friday evening, June 30, at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. The schedule will continue with visits Lincoln Speedway, Path Valley Speedway Park, Grandview Speedway, Port Royal Speedway, Hagerstown (MD) Speedway, and Selinsgrove Speedway, all capped off with the Opperman/Bogar Memorial at Selinsgrove on Sunday, July 9.
All Pennsylvania Sprint Speedweek programs will award a minimum of $5,000-to-win.
