Brent Marks Turns Valuable Laps At Knoxville; Ready For Upcoming Races
Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / BRENT MARKS RACING – KNOXVILLE, IA – Brent Marks followed the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series trail to the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, during the recent weekend, registering back-to-back main event starts, highlighted with an 11th place finish on Friday evening, June 9. Marks qualified for the Friday evening program by qualifying second fastest in his time trials group, followed by a third place finish during heat race competition.
On Saturday, June 10, the “Myerstown Missile” worked his way forward from row 12 to finish 16th, just two positions shy of clinching the evening’s KSE Hard Charger Award.
For Marks, the two-day visit to the Sprint Car Capital of the World served as a valuable test session, already looking forward to revisiting the Marion County Fairgrounds in mid-August for the 57th Annual 5-hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s General Stores.
“Any time you have the opportunity to turn laps at Knoxville Raceway, you have to take full advantage of it,” Brent Marks explained following the Brownells Big Guns Bash. “I feel like we made some progress throughout the weekend. We’ll put our notes to good use when we come back in August to race for $150,000.”
Brent Marks, pilot of the Brent Marks Racing/M&M Painting & Construction/BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/Eagle Hotel/No. 19, will continue his 2017 World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series Rookie of the Year campaign with three events in five days beginning with the Eagle Nationals at Eagle (NE) Raceway on Tuesday, June 13.
Action will swing north once competition in The Cornhusker State is complete, making two separate appearances in North Dakota on Friday and Saturday, June 16-17. River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks will host the Greatest Show On Dirt on Friday evening to kick-off the two-day North Dakota road trip, followed by a stop at the Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo.
Brent Marks will enter the week currently 13th in the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series championship standings on the strength of eight top-ten finishes.
