Cody Ochs Takes It On Topless Night At Glen Ridge; Wins DIRTcar Sportsman Feature Sunday

Story By: JACOB MACDONALD / GLEN RIDGE MOTORSPORTS PARK – FULTONVILLE, NY – It was Topless night Sunday at the Glen Ridge Motorsports Park for the Red Chair 602 Crate Sportsman division along with the Yurkewecz Auto Crushers DIRTcar Pro Stock Series.

When all was said and done, it was Cody Ochs and Josh Coonradt taking home their second wins on the season.

In the The Red Chair DIRTcar 602 Crate Sportsmans, it was AL McCoy and Cody Ochs leading the field to green.

Ochs took the early race lead but points leader Andrew Buff was working his way through the field as he was up to second by lap three. Andrew Buff was able to get to Ochs back bumper but he couldn’t find a way around him.

Meanwhile, younger brother Justin began to mount a charge. In the later stages, they swapped the second spot numerous times.

However, it was behind Cody Ochs who took home his second win of the year in the green to checkers feature.

Justin Buff edged out brother Andrew at the line for second while Brian Calabrese finished fourth and Brandon Gibbons rounded out the top five.

For the Yurkewecz Auto Crushers DIRTcar Pro stocks, It was a tour race which brought in some invaders such as legendary driver Rob Yetman, Chad Jeseo who is on fire at his home tracks of Lebanon Valley and Albany Saratoga and World Racing Group CEO Brian Carter.

When it was time to get going on the 40 lap feature underway, Andy Graves and Shawn Perez led the field to green. However, they didn’t get far as a lap one incident bunched everyone back up. The incident involved Chad Jeseo, Ivan Joslin, Rob Yetman and Shawn Perez.

Graves led for the restart but Cousin Luke Horning looked to be out to defend his home turf as the all time winningest driver in GRMP history took the race lead. A lap 18 caution for the 14j of Johnny Rivers who had a flat tire bunched the field back up once again.

Horning continued to lead off the restart but the 00x of Josh Coonradt began to make some noise and Horning slipped up on lap 24 and that was all Coonradt needed to take the lead away. From there, Coonradt went onto take home win number two on the season at Glen Ridge.

Horning would finish in the runner up spot, current point leader Beau Ballard came home in third, Ivan Joslin recovered from the first lap incident to finish fourth and Rob Yetman nabbed the fifth spot away from Jay Fitzgerald at the line.

Ken Allen took the early lead in the Street Stock feature. However, Adam Tranka has found something as of late as he charged up to the lead on lap four and drove away for his sixth win on the season. Matt Mosher came home in the runner up spot while Ken Allen, Slater Baker and “The Hammer” Cliff Haslun rounded out the top five.

Zach McSpirit took home his first career DIRTcar Mini Stock Dual Cam win. Meanwhile, in Single Cam competition, Dale VanAllen took home win number nine on the season.

Zach Buff took the early race lead in the Limited Sportsmans and never looked back as he took on his seventh win of the season. Brock Pinkerous finished in the runner up spot while Mike Hill, Dylan Gibson and Jerry Cohn rounded out the top five.

Adam Fusco and Scott Sprague led the field to green for the Northeast Paving & Sealcoating All Star Slingshots feature. Fusco took the lead and had a decent lead when a lap four caution bunched the field back up. By that time, Kristin Swartz had made her way up to second. On the restart, Swartz wrestled away the lead from Fusco and went onto win her first race ever at Glen Ridge. Adam Fusco came home in the runner up spot after a spirited challenge from Tucker Jones who wound up in third. Lucas Duncan and Danny Ballard rounded out the top five.

In the Northeast Paving & Sealcoating Junior Slingshots, Evan O’Hara powered from fourth to first in the first lap and then held off a late race challenge from Corky Warner to take home his first win of the season. Warner had to settle for 2nd, Wyatt Wilmot came home in third while Cole Conrad and Braxton Miller rounded out the top five.
