Cornwall Motor Speedway Set For Five Great Nights Of Racing During The Month Of August

Story By: MARTIN BÉLANGER / CORNWALL MOTOR SPEEDWAY – CORNWALL, ONT – Cornwall Motor Speedway is set for a very busy month of August as 5 nights of racing are scheduled throughout the eight month of 2021. It all starts this Sunday with the Fat Les Chip Stand Canadian Nationals, the Race for the Cure Sportsman Series along with an invitational Street Stock feature.

August 1: Canadian Nationals and Race for the Cure Sportsman

The second rounds for our Fat Les Chip Stand Canadian Nationals and Race for the Cure Sportsman Series are highlighting the first of 5 events in August. Both series attracted a solid field of cars in round 1 with 28 Modified and 32 Sportsman, we expect the same quality field again this Sunday. A lot of interest for the Street Stock race that was recently added with several sponsors contributing to the purse structure which is now $750 to win and over $3500 based on a 20-car field. Novice Sportsman and Mini-Stock are also on the card.

August 8: Weekend Warriors Pro-Stock and Mini-Stock Series

Two important series will continue on August 8 as the Weekend Warriors Pro-Stock and Mini-Stock Series are back in action, a great field of Pro-Stock was on hand for the 1st race and many of them will be back as we expect about 15-18 cars. With James Clarke moving up, the points will reshuffle in the Mini-Stock Series. The Quebec Mini-Mods will be in town along with the Modified and Sportsman.

August 15: Race for Cure Sportsman and Late Models in town!

Another great event for our fans as the third round of the Race for the Cure Sportsman Series will be presented on August 15 as Late Model fans will be pleased to the see the Crate Late Model Series in town, with some borders restrictions lifted for our neighbours, we could see a few American drivers joining the field. The Modified, Novice Sportsman and Mini-Stock are also on the schedule.

August 22: Action Sprint Tour and Lightning Sprints

Sprint Car fans, you can circle August 22 on your calendar! The Action Sprint Tour will be town for the first time in history as we expect over 20 cars in attendance coming from Brockville, Niagara and Quebec for 25 laps of Crate Sprint action. The Lightning Sprints will make a fourth presence at the speedway along with Modifieds, Sportsman, Pro-Stock

August 29: Regular night of racing and 6 classes in action!

A full program of racing will close out the month of August as the Vintage will be in town. An important night for all our regular competitors to get valuable points toward the track championship.

Tight battles in the different track championships

With a possibility of 6 events to gather points towards the different track championships that will close on September 5. There are some very heated battles. The modifieds is probably the one that will come down to the wire in September as only 4 points separates Corey Wheeler, Carey Terrance and Kyle Dingwall in the top 3. Only 47 points are distancing the top 8! At this point, anything can happen!

In the Next Level Home Improvement Sportsman, Ryan Stabler is currently the man to beat with 54 points over Cedric Gauvreau, Gabriel Cyr is currently third.

A 3-way battle is shaping up in the Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock between Dave Seguin, Stephane Lebrun and Marc Lalonde, only 10 points are separating the 3 veterans.

A similar scenario in the Remorquage du Plateau Novice Sportsman as Tristan Ladouceur has a 10-point lead over Eric Loyer and Justin Cyr currently tied in second spot.

The departure of James Clarke opened up the Mini-Stock championship with Justin Jodoin having a 34-point margin on Brand McMillan, the points are really close from second to fourth with 5 points in between McMillan, Alexis Charbonneau and Dan Cook.
