USAC National Tour Eastern Storm Set To Invade Port Royal Speedway Saturday Night
Story By: JUSTIN SNYDER / PORT ROYAL SPEEDWAY – PORT ROYAL, PA – There’s a storm coming to Juniata County in the form of 410ci powered Sprint Cars! Port Royal Speedway will play host this Saturday, June 19, to the AMSOIL INC. USAC Sprint Cars as part of the 14th annual USAC Eastern Storm tour.
This will mark a return to ‘The Speed Palace’ for the series after a one-year hiatus due to Covid-19.
The annual wingless event will pay $6,000 to win and also features the Weikert’s Livestock 410 Sprint Cars racing for $6,000 to win thanks to Mike Cleck Paving and Sealcoating Inc. The winged sprint cars will take part in dual heats and be rewarded with passing points, which will help to set the night’s feature line-up for the division.
Gates Open at 4pm EST with Racing set to Kick Off at 7pm EST.
GA- $25, Students (13-18)- $10, Pits- $35
The speedway has been an annual visit of the USAC wingless sprint cars dating back to 2012 with past winners being Damion Gardner (2012), Dave Darland (2013), Brady Bacon (2014), Robert Ballou (2015), Bryan Clauson (2016), Chris Windom (2017-18) and most recently Tyler Courtney in 2019.
The annual week-long event will feature five USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car dates along with a stop for the USAC Silver Crown Champ Car Series. C.J Leary most recently captured the Eastern Storm crown in 2019.
Brady Bacon enters the weekend as the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint points leader and he holds a narrow 36-point advantage over second-place Justin Grant. Kevin Thomas Jr. (-75), Robert Ballou (-129) and Chris Windom (-138) round out the top-five.
In Weikert’s Livestock 410 action, Jeff Halligan enters the weekend as the most recent winner in the division as he held off a charging Logan Wagner, Dylan Cisney, Jared Esh and Mike Wagner.
Logan Wagner holds a commanding 250-point advantage in the season points standings over Cisney followed by Mike Wagner (-260), Halligan (-335) and Gerrard McIntyre (-865).
