Revenge 50’s Back With New Twist; Modifieds Set To Rumble Thursday At Orange County

Story By: JOHN SNYDER / ORANGE COUNTY FAIR SPEEDWAY – MIDDLETOWN, NY – The rumble of the United Rentals Big-Block DIRTcar Modifieds will echo through Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, New York on Thursday evening June 17 with the return of the “Revenge 50,” a 50-lap, $5,000-to-win romp around the historic five-eighths-mile clay speedway.

Four preliminary heats will qualify 24 drivers for the feature race. Thanks to Rob Sherlock Roofing, of Wurtsboro, New York, drivers finishing positions 4-6 in their heat will race in a special Rob Sherlock’s Working Man’s Dash for Cash.

The winner of the Dash will earn $2,000, while the top-five finishers will all bank prize money, and the driver who advances the most positions will pocket an extra $250.

In the 50-lap feature event, only green flag laps will be counted. The top starting positions will be set by a revenge draw. Eligible drivers will draw a number, but then must pass that starting spot number to one of the other competitors.

With no other race meet scheduled in the region, a banner field—much like Orange County’s previous Memorial Weekend event—of Big-Block Modified drivers is expected, both Orange County-based as well as outside invaders. Matt Sheppard won the Revenge 50 last year. This is the fifth race in the United Rentals Big-Block DIRTcar Modifieds point chase to determine the track champion.

The stands and the unique Orange County Drive-In section are fully open. General admission for either is $20 adults, $16 seniors, and free for children 12 and under. Rows D, E, and F of the Drive-In can be reserved ahead of time for $25. Unsold spaces in these rows will be available on race day. In the Drive-In, track announcements and race calls can be heard on 107.7 FM. The Party Deck is available at $140 for four. Fans wishing to reserve Drive-In spaces or the Party Deck should call the Speedway Office at 845-342-2573. The 31st Lap Tavern is open. Spectator gates open at 4:30 pm, Hot Laps at 6:30 pm, and racing at 7:00 pm.
